LONG KNIVESÂ AT A GLANCE
The Long Knives Chapter was founded in 2004 and serves Southernmost Illinois. The name Long Knives comes from what Native Americans called George Rogers Clark's soldiers when they passed through this area on their way to capture Vincennes from the British.

The chapter meets at noon on the second Saturday of each month at the Mackie's Pizza located at 2704 Walton Way, Marion IL.

WHAT WE DO
Throughout Illinois, in big cities and in small towns, our members are working to promote patriotism and preserve the ideals of freedom. Whether you are already a member of the SAR or someone interested in becoming a member, you will find the Illinois SAR is a great organization for you to express your enthusiasm for patriotism and freedom, and to promote the ideals of our founding fathers. Our programs are many and varied.
PATRIOT GRAVE MARKING
One of the most important programs of the  Society is finding and honoring every Revolutionary War Patriot buried in Illinois. Many SAR members have spent countless hours locating and researching grave-sites of local patriots. When a grave-site is located and verified, an appropriate marker is obtained and a ceremony honoring each patriot is organized and carried out.

PROMOTE PATRIOTISM
Members of chapter color guard units put ‘the colors’ on display throughout the state by regularly marching in holiday parades.

HONOR EAGLE SCOUTS
New Eagle Scouts receive a certificate, badge, and essay contest forms to enter for potential cash awards.
